The BMW F650 'Funduro' first appeared in the UK 1993 powered by a 652cc single cylinder Rotax engine and was built by Aprilia in Italy to strict BMW specifications.

It was a first for BMW and was not originally thought by many to be a motorcycle that would sell in large numbers, as it wasn't a *real* BMW.

However sales have proved the sceptics wrong!

There were originally two versions, the F650 Funduro and the F650ST Strada (ST=Strasse=Street) which was more road orientated with a smaller diameter front wheel and a smaller screen, as shown opposite.

The F650 'Funduro'

with 19" front rim and taller screen.

The  front mudguard on the F650 'Funduro' runs down in front of the forks to the wheel spindle and also the smooth line of the bash plate (for log or rock-hopping), are the quick identifiers of this model. The F650 also has a higher seat and more suspension travel for those off-road forays.

The F650 ST 'Strada'

with 18" front rim and short screen.

The front mudguard runs from front to rear in a straight line and the bash plate projects forward slightly as it passes beneath the engine, similar to a belly-pan on a sports bike.  The Strada also has narrower bars than the F650 to make it more suitable for "Street" riding.

More to be added as time allows ....
